ABOUT THE COMPANY
The company Zahrbat was created in December 2005, the following year of Brahim Bouchelaghem’s creation solo. Zahrbat is nickname of Brahim’s father, and Brahim pays tribute to him trought his first solo, and means one who moves all the time, who does not hold up like Brahim Bouchelaghem. First, the company is only organizing the battles Brams ( more than 200 participants in each edition) ; activity still organized today organized in partnership with the Condition Public in Roubaix. From 2005 to 2007, the production and distribution of the solo are provided by the company Accrorap. In 2007, the company restructures itself as part of the National Choregraphic Center in Roubaix directed by Carolyn Carlson, and the company is administered by Marie Greulich. The company has developed its production and distribution activity since June 2008 with touring at regional, national and international level. The companionship ends in December 2010. From 2011 to 2013, the company is associated with the CCN Roubaix as part of the red brick project. In 2013, the company Zahrbat moved to Studio 28 in Roubaix where it began to develop its new project including, production, creation, transmission, cultural mediation. From September 2015 to June 2018, the company Zahrbat is in residence at the Cultural Space Ronny Coutteure. During the 3 seasons, it offers workshops, broadcast shows, as well as creative residencies.
The company develops thanks to faithful partners and to the fertile ideas of its artistic director, its activities of production and touring of the choreographic pieces. During the last years, the different programs have been presented in France and abroad as in Asia (Hong Kong, Seoul, Macau, China …), in Africa (Algeria, Ethiopia, Sudan, Djibouti, Madagascar, Kenya, Tanzania …) in Europe (Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, UK …) in Russia, Ukraine, USA, Latin America (Chile, Colombia, French Guiana) with an average of 40 performances per year. Zahrbat company is one of the most dynamic company and its current repertoire includes eleven creations, not counting the orders.
